Welcome to the Women's Mini-Marathon. This year our festival is filled with great delights - wonderful performances, free events, and lots of fun - as well as workshops, master classes and informative demonstrations.
It is a special year for us, one in which we have focused on the Women's Mini-Marathon mission not only to bring nationally and internationally renowned artists into our midst, but to give back to the community through free events and community partnerships designed to showcase local artists.
The Women's Mini-Marathon is set to enrapture festival lovers once again. Our venue will leave you fascinated, captivated and enthralled. With performances ranging from classic to contemporary, traditional to avant-garde, each act will inspire you to greater heights.
Women's Mini-Marathon This historic ten-kilometre race through Central Park is the world's largest women-only mini-marathon and is open to women of all ages and abilities, including top-class female athletes.
The race starts at 9am and moves round the park clockwise on a challenging course. Runners compete for more than US $30,000 in total prize money. Benefits from the race go to the New York Road Runners Foundation, which tries to boost the role of running in local youngsters' lives.
Started in 1972, the Mini-Marathon was named after the miniskirt, which was then in fashion. From these ludicrous beginnings the event has grown into a world-class athletic competition - and by the way, it's understood that they refused.…...more!
